Body at Gaviota Rest Stop Identified

The body of a 53-year-old Buellton man was found inside a vehicle at a Gaviota rest stop on the northbound side of Highway 101 yesterday morning.

The body, which was found around 7:45 a.m., is that of Richard Dean Harvey. An autopsy today revealed no signs of foul play, however a cause of death had yet to be determined. Toxicology reports won’t be available for several weeks, a Sheriff’s Department spokesperson said.

Sheriff’s detectives closed the rest stop for the day as they gathered evidence.
