George “The Happy Captain” Werier, who hosted “Alive After 65” on public access TV for the past 15 years, died earlier this year. A former theater producer and TV actor, Werier became a fixture in Santa Barbara’s theatrical community shortly after moving here in 1974. As he advanced in years, Werier was actively engaged in senior issues. For his involvement, he won commendations from many political leaders, including President Bill Clinton.
