Reading Rainbow: Every year, Roosevelt Elementary School holds a Read-a-Thon where parents and invited members of the community bring to the school one of their favorite books to read to the students. This year, The Independent‘s Design Director Alex Abatie read to his son Lukas’s class The True Story of the Three Little Pigs, and Editor in Chief Marianne Partridge read the classic baseball poem Casey at the Bat to a class of 4th graders (pictured above). The majority of that class turned out to be Dodger fans.
