The Santa Barbara Police Department announced this morning that it had made an arrest in an apparently gang-related stabbing that occurred on September 14 in the parking lot of Mi Fiesta Market at 410 S. Salinas St. According to a report on the incident from police spokesperson Sgt. Lorenzo Duarte, a 23-year-old man drove himself to Cottage Hospital after another man yelled a gang slogan at him and then stabbed him once in the abdomen. On Monday, September 22, detectives served a search warrant at a home on the 200 block of South Salinas Street and, after some investigation, ultimately arrested one resident, 24-year-old Jeovany Jose Rodriguez, on charges of assault with a deadly weapon and active participation in a criminal street gang.

Duarte also noted that earlier reports of this incident incorrectly identified the site of the stabbing as Fairway Market at 128 S. Salinas St. Further investigation clarified this point.
