The California Highway Patrol is reporting that parties involved in a four-vehicle accident on Friday afternoon emerged with overall few injuries. Officers arrived at the scene of the accident, west of the Highway 154 summit, just after 4 p.m. yesterday and found a stretch limousine facing the wrong direction, as well as three other vehicles apparently affected by the accident. According to the CHP’s narrative of the events, the driver of the Accord lost control while driving west and skidded into the eastbound lane, causing the driver of the limo to swerve left in an attempt to get out of the way. The Accord still struck the limo, and both the Yukon and the Sonoma — which were both following the limo — collided with the limo as well.
One passenger from the Accord was transported to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital with moderate injuries, while to limo riders had minor injuries.
The CHP is reporting that alcohol and drugs were not factors in this accident.

According to the news report I heard on 1340 AM this afternoon, the accord was going 70 MPH.
Maybe between this, and the fatality yesterday on the same road, something will actually be done about the motorized recklessness that goes on all day long in this area. Well, at least one can hope so.

In the last week driving over the pass on 154 I have had to call the CHP twice due to other reckless drivers, speeding, crossing over the double yellow, endangering myself & kids and other drivers. Are they really in such a hurry that good innocent people must lose their lives because of their irresponsibility? Can't we put some tax dollars into preventing this behavior?

KC: I too have had to call them and it never amounts to anything because they never have enough officers. This is a microcosm of how our government has mismanaged safety priorities.
What a damming commentary on our society--and in particular--Santa Barbara County that SO many people have such callous disregard for a law that truly is for our benefit.
The only way to get through to them is enforcement, and putting up "slow down" signs are meaningless.

Just as there are double fine zones for construction areas, there should be "lose your license for a year" zones. 154 should be one of them.
Making people walk or take the bus for a year would deter reckless driving in the way a pathetic $100 fine never will.

As a daily driver of the 154, I see people crossing over the double yellow line, speeding, and tailgating every single day. It's stupid! It's almost as if people think the driver in front of them will drive faster if they are tailgated. I see drivers going so fast in the passing lane that they can barely control their vehicle, only to get one car ahead. Is it really that important to pass other vehicles, that you'll risk your life and the lives of other drivers?
Tailgating on 154 not only obscures your ability to see other vehicles in front of the car directly ahead of you, but it also keeps you from seeing the many turns on the highway, thus making you more likely to cross the double yellow.
If you have a real desire to drive like a f*cking lunatic, go buy a Playstation!
