Santa Barbara County Fire’s Hazardous Materials team responded to an oil spill at a Greka-owned facility off Palmer Road in northern Santa Barbara County early this afternoon, according to County Fire spokesman Eli Iskow. The spill was discovered shortly after 1 p.m. on a well pad located at the Bell Facility at 7320 Palmer Road. Summing up the incident, which spewed about three barrels of crude oil and 30 barrels of toxic produced water, Iskow commented, “Basically, it is a contained spill. All the oil is confined on the well pad.” Iskow said the mishap occurred when an underground pipe burst.
