The smell of vomit hung thickly in the air as firefighters cleaned up the remains of a transient man who was found dead this morning near the corner of State and Cota streets. According to police, the body was found on a State Street bench by a passerby at about 9:50 a.m., having died of natural causes. Police on scene also stated that the man was a known member of Santa Barbara's established homeless population. His name is being withheld until his next of kin are notified.
