FOLSOM INTERN BLUES: He’s never shot a man in Reno just to watch him die, but Eric Weldon does hail from Folsom, California, made famous by the legendary Johnny Cash song about the prison there. Having just completed his second year studying Middle Eastern history at Santa Barbara City College, the Isla Vista resident is taking advantage of his lighter summer course load to do an internship writing news articles at The Indy. Also a supervisor at Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf, he more than fulfills his internly duty of bringing coffee to his mentors. “Living in I.V. has affected my writing style – made it more sarcastic in a way,” he said. “I’ve realized what life is all about living there, even though it’s nowhere near real life. Figure that out.”
