Jim Bianco’s newest album, Sing, is orange both on the cover and in its tracks. The album radiates warmth through a combo of traditional chords that travel with ease through Bianco’s 11-track musical exploration. The overall sound is unconventionally euphonious, with piano used to balance the more striking accompaniments of accordion and saxophone. Likewise, Bianco’s melodiously rough voice dominates over his thoughtfully sweet lyrics. Sing‘s first track, “I Got a Thing for You,” opens the album with lush, Latin-tinged sounds before diffusing to a mellower key on the album’s second offering, the piano-driven “Belong.” A recent trip to town saw the L.A.-based Bianco play to the masses at SOhO. He’ll return to Santa Barbara again on Sunday, September 14 as part of the three-day West Beach Music Festival.
