I’m going to ignore using the rest of Jake’s name (2911 De la Vina St., 898-2233) — okay, it’s Cottage Cuisine Café — as that makes the place sound too cutesy by half. This place is a square-shooting, old-time joint that just happens to serve market-fresh ingredients in a pleasant, airy atmosphere. Some weekends there’s jazz guitar. Every day there’s Jake visiting each table. Light and flavorful omelettes, yummy baked goods, and Southern grits truly worth savoring — there’s some cheese or cream or both in there, making them luscious. They even have wireless, so you could camp out with some coffee and do lunch and then their Thursday, Friday, and Saturday night dinner, too.
