Peace by Piece

The Nuclear Age Peace Foundation’s 2008 Swackhamer Disarmament Video Contest is currently seeking short video submissions. The mini-movies should express why U.S. leadership is needed to achieve a nuke-free world. The contest will be hosted on YouTube and cash prizes will be awarded for the top three films. Submissions are due by Monday, June 16. Visit wagingpeace.org for contest rules.

Fear Factor

Ojai’s Theater 150 is looking for short, scary plays for a fall Halloween performance. Submissions should be one-act, simply set tales with no more than six characters. Organizers are especially interested in stories that are based in local Ojai myths. Interested writers are encouraged to send their works, in standard manuscript format, to Deb Norton at Theater 150, PO Box 925, Ojai, CA 93024 or email them to theater150@theater150.org.

Scrap Happy

Art From Scrap (302 E. Cota St.) has entry forms and materials available for tri-county artists interested in participating in the 2008 Assemblage Event. This year’s featured material is fabric and artists are asked to create an original piece of assemblage art from their selection and other recycled items. Works will be sold at silent auction to raise money for AFS, and cash prizes will be awarded for the top three designs. Email devo@artfromscrap.org for details.
