Jaime Diaz admitted early on that he’s “a bit of a workaholic,” but all he needed to do was list his various employers and we would’ve believed him. Buttoned-up Operations Coordinator at Pacific Capital Bancorp by day and Indy ad designer by night, Diaz includes on his résumé making coffee at Starbucks, being a receptionist at Village Properties, assisting Montecito properties agent Rebecca Riskin for two years, doing graphic design at Prudential California Realty, and working men’s sportswear at Nordstrom. The Hesperia, California, native got a call from The Indy’s advertising department one night in 2003, asking if he knew Photoshop and InDesign and if he could come in that evening to help out the unexpectedly smaller staff. He’s been a fixture of our “after 5 p.m.” staff ever since. And when he’s not logging timecard hours, you can find him at the gym, playing with his black cat Heather, or hitting up live shows in L.A. or San Francisco, since he “obsessively sees bands like Sonic Youth, Tori Amos, Jesu, ADULT., and The Go! Team because I love them so much I have to go to every show on the coast.”
