A 75-year-old man was killed Tuesday when the 2007 Mazda he was driving west on Hollister Avenue near Walnut Lane veered left, crossing onto and over the concrete median, continuing across both eastbound lanes, and eventually colliding with a small wagon trailer parked in a small dirt field at Lane Farms. Several passersby saw the incident, which happened around 9 p.m., and stopped to help and administer CPR. The Goleta resident was taken to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital, but didn’t make it. Officials believe the man may have suffered a heart attack, but the reasons behind the driver’s erratic behavior won’t be known until a coroner’s report is completed.
