Members of the Santa Barbara's Chicano/Latino community and all local residents are invited to a special cultural celebration honoring deceased friends and loved ones, set to take place during the traditional Dia de los Muertos, on Thursday, November 1 from 6-10 p.m. Unlike the coinciding Christian holiday All Soul's Day, Dia de los Muertos approaches death joyfully, embracing it as natural and a cause for celebration. Following in this festive spirit, the local event will feature live music, food, wine, and blessings. A community altar will be set up for individuals and families to honor the dead.
The event will take place at La Casa de la Raza, located at 601 E. Montecito Street in Santa Barbara.
