A community Rally and Walk for Peace will be held at noon on Saturday, Oct. 27 at Vera Cruz Park in downtown Santa Barbara. The event is planned as part of a National Day of Action to help stop the war in Iraq and prevent a war in Iran.
All interested individuals and organizations are invited to meet at the park at 11:30 a.m. to make signs and prepare for the day's activities. After a short rally, small groups will take to the streets on foot to distribute fliers. Participants are invited to come in costume and to bring signs and musical instruments, to encourage a peaceful and inviting mentality for the day.
The event is sponsored locally by the People's Coalition and will coincide with similar nationwide peace rallies, including gatherings in New York, Los Angeles, and Washington, D.C.
