The Indy‘s own Beth Taylor-Schott is launching a series of weekly poetry classes starting this Wednesday, October 17. Formally titled Poetry Out Loud: Becoming Intimate with Poems through Memorization and Recitation, the series will focus on the interpretation, recitation, and oral history of poetry. All meetings are free to the public, and will take place every Wednesday from 7:30-9:30 p.m. at the Schott Center (310 W. Padre St.). Below is a schedule of session topics.

•October 24: Bringing a Poem into Memory

•October 31: Interpreting a Poem: Making the Map

•November 7: The Sound of Poetry: Becoming the Instrument

•November 14: Giving Poetry Voice: Performance
