Pizza Guru’s White House Pie

Sure they’ve got vegetarian and even vegan pizza, but Pizza Guru (3534 State St., 563-3250) has a way with grilled chicken, and so, White House Pie is the way to go. The white sauce isn’t too rich or thick, and is so redolent of garlic you have to eat the pizza with people who (already) love you. The artichoke hearts, basil, onion, and sun-dried tomatoes give it a pleasantly Mediterranean cast, but the cilantro makes it a pan-global delight. As for the crust, it’s more Chicago than New York, but the crust “bone” puffs and crunches deliciously. Plus, it’s nice for progressives to have something associated with the White House to love.
