Marilyn Garza, an eighth-grade science teacher at Santa Barbara Junior High School, was honored with a $25,000 national educator award on 11/1. The award, presented by Assemblymember Pedro Nava, California Superintendent of Public Instruction Jack O’Connell, and the Santa Barbara School Board, was one of only 80 nationwide awards, and comes from the Milken Family Foundation, a Santa Monica-based charitable trust.
