After more than a week, UCSB students have opted to end a hunger strike meant to protest UC’s management of laboratories used to develop nuclear weapons. A press conference was called on 5/23 to talk about what the students deemed a successful strike. The students had intended to fast until the University of California agreed to stop “engineering, testing, and manufacturing nuclear weapons,” but broke their fast after seeing their concerns wouldn’t be addressed at a recent regents meeting in San Francisco.
