UCSB’s Campus Regulations Review Committee – a judicial body that can expel students deemed guilty of felonious behavior – is mulling over whether to include couch-burning and certain alcohol- and drug-related offenses on the list of crimes that can get students booted. Though administrators insisted the new rules are designed to ensure the safety of students and faculty, some students questioned why the university would punish students for crimes the penal code should already cover.
