SonneBlauma Danscz Theatre is a group of creative dancers and choreographers, facilitated by artist Misa Kelly. They’ve premiered pieces at the Dance Alliance’s New Works, dazzled crowds at the Monterey Dance Festival, and stopped pedestrians and passersby with their performances in parks. SonneBlauma is presenting its next work in an open studio showing at the Montecito School of Ballet on Sunday, May 20. Call (908) 569-0389 to reserve an audience spot or see sonneblauma.com. Here’s why it’ll be worth your while.

1) The dancers will be performing in the round, an intimate setting surrounded by the audience, accompanied by live music and improvisational vocals. This will be an entirely different view than dance from a distance.

2) Observe a company’s creative process as the evening’s appetizer will feature playful games that provide insight into the evolution of dance and the use of the body.

3) Check out SonneBlauma in action, since its schedule includes opportunities to join in on master classes with guest teachers as well as the company classes, allowing aspiring dancers to play along.
