Tequila Te-Conversations

A Tasting Leaves The Indy Thirsting for More

Where’s the service?”

I don’t know. I don’t think it was a good idea to sit at the back table.”

What’s in this drink : beer? Tequila?”

Both, I think. Every drink is made with tequila, as is every food menu item, and they’re paired correspondingly. Look, here’s the seven-course menu.”

Whatever it is, it’s delicious. And back to what you were saying about Barry Bonds, I think the prick should be barred for life.”

From the Hall of Fame or professional baseball?”

Both. You can’t use steroids and keep playing even if you’re clean now. You’ve still gained the body mass, and so those records are tainted.”

Maybe. But still, anyone who can get one pitch a game and send it into the bleachers every time is pretty amazing.”

Hey! Ready? One tequila, two tequila, three tequila, floor! (Laughs.) Tell them our new friends Aldanas at the next table recommend the 1942!”

Did you know John Paul DeJoria of Paul Mitchell also owns the Patron label?”

Yeah, I did, actually. One fiesta, my buddy sticks his head out the door of his party and yells, ‘Anyone want a shot of Hornitos?’ just as DeJoria walks by. My friend said John Paul just shook his head and kept on walking.”

Damn, this food is good, but I wish they’d give you bigger portions or bring the portions out faster. Or bring the tequila around faster! Hey, over here!”

Well, last time they had about a third less people; I guess the Don Julio label is pretty popular.”

Whatever; this second Thursday of every month thing they got going on is a pretty awesome guys’ night out; $70 for food, drinks, and tip? I’d spend more than that anyway, and look at all these people! Plus, with whatever tequila tasting you attend, you get a whole lesson on what it is, where it comes from, and : hey, is that guy playing the Mexican version of Pearl Jam’s ‘Last Kiss’?”
