The Tegal Corporation, a Petaluma-based computer parts manufacturer, donated $350,000 to UCSB to establish an endowed chair for the director of the university’s California NanoSystems Institute (CNSI). The chair will be named in honor of the late Peter J. Clarke, a Santa Barbara resident and computer science pioneer who had collaborated with Evelyn Hu, CNSI’s scientific director.
