Jan Baross has been a painter, teacher, filmmaker, playwright, film critic, travel writer, cartoonist, and photographer; now, the Oregon-based Jill-of-all-trades is trying her hand at fiction writing. She’ll be at Borders Books next Wednesday, July 11, at 7 p.m., for a discussion and signing of her novel, Jose Builds a Woman, described as a saga written in the tradition of magical-realism, about life and death, men and women, mothers and sons-and featuring a character named Jose, a boy who’s obsessed with marrying a nun.
