The Santa Barbara County Historic Landmarks Advisory Commission rejected the Botanic Garden’s plans for a meadow terrace on 12/10. The Garden had already begun construction on the Planning Department-approved terrace, but work was halted in August, in the face of strong community opposition. Since then, the Garden has appealed the HLAC’s stop-work order, and an ad hoc committee with HLAC members and Garden representatives was formed to try to work out a compromise.
