Yahoo!Electronic voting machines across the state aren't safe from tampering and must be fixed before the spring 2008 elections. So ordered California Secretary of State Debra Bowen on 8/3, after UCSB's Security Group revealed flaws in the machines sold by Sequoia Voting Systems, which are used locally. Both Diebold and Hart voting machines were also shown to be vulnerable by other labs. While believing that the required fixes could be completed in time, Security Group co-leader Giovanni Vigna said, "There is no way you can have an electronic voting system that is completely secure."
