Another major change at the new Quantum Kitchen & Cocktails (201 W. Carrillo St.) is, well, the cocktails. Now with a full liquor license, bartender Dan McNamara has created a cocktail list that is as approachable as Quantum’s menu.

The drinks are fun and easy (like the snickerdoodle-spiked milkshake), while still maintaining a focus on quality that prompts him to make his own fresh bloody Mary mix, for example.

Their drink selection changes according to what patrons are drinking. “If someone likes to drink Drambuie on the rocks, we’ll bring it in,” McNamara said. The conversation that led to green tea martinis was one with Quantum’s Director of Public Relations and Marketing Jillian O’Banion, who recalled drinking green tea martinis at New York’s Double Happiness.

“It’s a very simple cocktail to make,” said McNamara. (The only catch: You’ll need to brew the tea ahead of time to give it a chance to chill.)

Quantum’s Green Tea Martini

Serves one

4 oz. Kettle One Citroen

½ oz. triple sec

1½ oz. chilled green tea

Splash of fresh lemon juice

Combine all ingredients in a cocktail shaker filled with ice. Shake and strain into a chilled martini glass. Garnish with a twist of lemon.
