If World Cup madness has left you wishing that America would get
with the program and offer more in the way of live, quality soccer,
two local organizations have partnered to reach that goal. Santa
Barbara Soccer Entertainment and 11 Sports Marketing are joining
forces to bring big-time soccer events to Santa Barbara, the first
of which will take place on Wednesday, July 12, at UCSB’s Harder
Stadium. The game — part of the third round of the 2006 U.S. Open
Cup — will pit Chivas U.S.A. against either Miami FC or Roma FC,
depending on who lasts in the single-elimination tourney. Best of
all, kick-off is at 7 p.m. Score! Tickets go on sale Friday, June
30. Call 965-1128, or local Tri-County soccer shops and the
Arlington box office.
