Popular longtime San Marcos High School football coach and
athletic director Sut “the Smilin’ Samoan” Puailoa died last
weekend after a long illness. Puailoa coached the successful San
Marcos gridiron teams of the 1970s, winning four Channel League
titles. He also ran the school’s athletic program for 18 years and
coached golf.
