The SB Chapter for Near-Death Studies (IANDS) is proud to present Dr. Eben Alexander! Dr. Alexander was a renowned neurosurgeon for decades who, based on his firmly scientific view of the world, was an atheist. This all changed when he got severely ill with a case of bacterial meningitis that caused him to slip into a deep coma.

While in a coma, Dr. Alexander had a near death experience (NDE) that changed everything he thought he knew about the world and the afterlife. He had vivid visions of heaven that he says were nothing like what we know on Earth. He claims to have been led through his experience by his deceased sister, who he never knew on Earth, and that he had an overwhelming sense of love, joy and peace.

Dr. Alexander shares his insights on consciousness, including eternity of soul, the hard problem of consciousness, the illusion of a separate self, the brain as a reducing valve and the creative source that underlies all of reality. Since encountering non-material realms during his near-death experience in 2008, he has been on a continuing quest to find simple, teachable ways to access those realms. He collaborates with audio meditation specialist Karen Newell, co-founder of Sacred Acoustics, to provide sound technology tools that allow all souls to come to their own deep knowing of universal truths.
