The Big Read Kickoff at Central Library

The Santa Barbara Public Library System launches its 5-week community book and events program during the 1st Thursday art walk. Look for the Huey helicopter in front of the Library on Anapamu St. - veterans will be on hand to give tours!

The Santa Barbara Public Library System launches its 5-week community book and events program during the 1st Thursday art walk. Look for the Huey helicopter in front of the Library on Anapamu St. - veterans will be on hand to give tours and information.

The Things They Carried, by Tim O'Brien, is the novel about American soldiers in Vietnam that is at the center of The Big Read. Check SBPLibrary.org for a list of events, including a free public talk by the author (10/23), film screenings, panel discussions at all branches, theatrical performances, and a student and veteran writing contest related to this "marvel of storytelling."
