Now in its 22nd year at UCSB, Reel Loud is a student run festival dedicated to harkening back to the beginnings of cinema.

Where: UCSB Campbell Hall, 574 Mesa Rd., Santa Barbara
Age limit: All ages
Categories: Film Screening
Every spring silent films produced by the students are showcased with live acts—varying from orchestras, bands, spoken word and the like—for the community. This year, Reel Loud is transitioning from 21 years of 16mm to the digital format. While we will miss the aesthetic, this change creates more opportunity for aspiring filmmakers with digital’s higher accessibility and fewer costs. As a result, Reel Loud is expecting an enormous turnout of film submissions as well as festival attendees come Memorial Day weekend.
On Friday May 24th, student, faculty, and members of the community are invited to UCSB's Campbell Hall for the annual festival. This year's theme is Alfred Hitchcock and a number of displays, art, and live performances will be presented. The art show begins at 6:30, doors open at 7:30 and the show starts at 8pm. Event usually lasts a little over 2 hours.
Presale tickets can be purchased by the Reel Loud Committee members for $10 or for $12 at the door.
