Forum on Prescription Drug Abuse
For the first time, there will be a Three Town Hall Forums in the County of Santa Barbara for the general public to learn about the new epidemic sweeping the country and what they can do about it.
When: Thursday, May 16, 2013, 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Prescription drug overdoses kill over 100 Americans every single day, according to the US Centers for Disease Control. That death rate has tripled since 1990.Americans are abusing drugs such as narcotic pain killers, central nervous system depressants and stimulants and ER visits have increased 111% for non-medical use of prescription drugs from 2004 to 2011.
The events will include a new documentary "Behind the Orange Curtain," as well as 4 panelists that are involved in various aspects of prescription drug abuses. A Q &A will follow the programs.
The first forum will be held in the City of Santa Barbara at the Faulkner Room at the Central Library at 405 East Anapamu St in Santa Barbara on May 14th from 6pm to 7:30.
The following day on May 15th, the forum will be held at the Santa Ynez High School Little Auditorium at 2975 East Hwy 246 in Santa Ynez again from 6pm to 7:30.
The last forum will be held in Santa Maria on May 16 at the Main Library's Shephard Hall. That location is 421 So McClelland Street from 6pm to 7:30. All events are free and refreshments will be served.A Spanish interpretor will be available.
