Open Lab is a time for anyone to bring in ideas and inventions to share or to get help on, a chance to see what others are doing, and an opportunity to socialize with other creative individuals. The Central Library is located at 40 E. Anapamu St. in Santa Barbara.
Makerspaces are community spaces where people can get together and collaborate and share resources to develop ideas, and invent programs and items using software and computer hardware. SB Makerspace will have a number of creations on hand to demo and display as well as experts to assist and advise newcomers. Curious and creative people of all ages are encouraged to come to Open Lab to work on their own projects or be inspired by others.
The Library joined forces with Santa Barbara Makerspace to offer Makerspace programs and events at the Central Library. SB Makerspace and the Library offered kids programming classes in April, and will also be offering teen programming classes on Monday nights starting June 3.
SB Makerspace can be found online at sbmakerspace.org, and followed on Twitter at https://twitter.com/SBMakerSpace. All Library programs are FREE and open to the public. To find out more about these and other library programs, visit the library online at SBPLibrary.org or contact the Library at 805-564-5604.
