Goleta Valley Beauitful's Young Trees: Planting, Pruning & Care Workshop is open to all with an interest in trees and a desire to preserve and protect young shade trees.
It is a great opportunity to learn in a hands-on workshop taught by experienced arborists demonstrating techniques that professionals use to care for young trees!
You will participate in concise, practical sessions that will give you the working knowledge of best management practices for planting and pruning trees. All work is done from the ground, no tree climbing is involved. Emphasis is on public shade trees, and the similarities and differences of fruit tree pruning techniques. Participants will prune young trees on the campus of San Marcos High School as part of a supervised field examination.
High school and college students are invited to attend and earn 5 community service credits. Professionals attending can use this workshop as a refresher and earn 5 continuing education credits. Participants are expected to participate in the entire session to receive professional/community service credit.
