Sean Michael Dishman is a 20 year old singer/songwriter from Santa Barbara, California. His new self-released album, Coming Home, is a captivating and moving debut that showcases the arrival of a gifted young talent.
A Southern California kid, Sean grew up listening to 70's rock and was influenced early on from bands like Fleetwood Mac and The Eagles. He played piano as a child, gradually picking up the guitar, saxophone, and most recently banjo and mandolin. It wasn't until his teens that he started writing songs and taking music into his own hands. When it came time for college, Sean decided on Boston's prestigious Berklee College of Music, where he studied songwriting to further hone his craft. With the freedom of being a multi-instrumentalist and self-involved bedroom musician, Sean started recording demos of his songs and giving them to
friends, eventually realizing that something about his songs resonated with others. This development sparked his motivation in recording the songs for Coming Home.
His sound is Americana, pure and simple, with lightly textured arrangements. Artists like James Taylor, Jackson Browne, The Civil Wars, and Dawes, all come to mind in comparison to Sean. But as Sean says, "I don't want to pigeonhole myself to the model of one sound because I'm always growing as a songwriter and a musician."
