The luncheon will feature the presentation of 2012-13 grants totaling $525,000 to eight local nonprofits. These awards mark the ninth year of Women’s Fund grants— totaling more than $4 million—to 55 nonprofits in Santa Barbara, Goleta and Carpinteria.
The grants, selected by the Women’s Fund’s nearly 600 members, are kept secret until announced at the luncheon (even Women’s Fund members don’t know the results until the event). The Women’s Fund is a collective volunteer donor group focused on the needs of women, children and families in Santa Barbara, Goleta and Carpinteria. The concept is simple: Women’s Fund members pool their charitable donations, research critical community needs and then vote on which agencies will receive the funds collected during the year.
Special thanks to a series of generous matching grants from Betty Elings Wells, whose donations provided $2 for every $1 raised above $350,000 in 2012—and 3-for-1 for every new individual member. Ms. Wells will also be available for photos/interviews at 11:15 a.m.
