Tall Ship Program

SBMM is hosting the visiting tall ship Bill of Rights, for a week-long Marine Science Program, which sends 6th – 9th graders out to sea on a 3-hour cruise, utilizing their math and science skills in an ocean setting.

SBMM’s Marine Science Tall Ship Program encourages students to utilize their math and science skills to chart and navigate a course, learn about plate tectonics, evaluate how the loss of a species affects the ocean food web, and to dissect a squid and sea cucumber. The program seeks to instill in students a love of the ocean, and shows how care and respect for our Santa Barbara Channel is important for everyone’s future. The program aligns with the California Standards, and is run by ATSI’s professional staff. Classes and after-school are booked through the Maritime Museum’s Director of Education, Emily Falke.

Program takes place from 9am-12pm or 1pm-4pm.
