International Astronomy Day

Come celebrate a day of Astronomy and learn how telescopes are made, read up on informational displays, learn about safe solar viewing, watch astronomy demonstrations, and participate in a free raffle to win telescopes and planispheres.

When: Saturday, April 20, 2013, 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.

There will be astronomy events all day
in the plaza by the theater at the Camino Real Marketplace. It's all free!

There will be informational displays, safe solar viewing, and astronomy
demonstrations and activities. See how a telescope mirror is made, and examples of sky-friendly lighting. At 3 PM there will be a free raffle to give away two new
telescopes: one with an 8-inch aperture, and one with a 4.5-inch aperture. We will
also be giving away several planispheres as secondary prizes.

From 7 to 10 PM, join us for a Star Party, with scopes set up to view the Moon, Jupiter,
Saturn, and assorted deep-space goodies.
