Come join local author Ronald Koegler as he signs his newest novel, Benito's Gambit.

Benito’s Gambit takes us back in history to the time of the Reagan administration, when Republicans could get elected to the United States Senate from California if they were somewhat liberal and had enough the sense to go after the Hispanic vote.

At the urging of his wife’s uncle Benito, psychiatrist Don Carter reluctantly agree to be a Republican candidate for United States Senator from California using Benito’s Mafia money, aided by a strong Hispanic vote (Don and his wife are both Spanish-speaking). Long-time time Santa Barbara resident Ronald Koegler describes Don’s rise from Atlantic City lifeguard (in his 2011 novel) Chasing the Stargazer) to United States Senator in Benito’s Gambit.

It is a mixture of reality and fantasy on a very serious subject, written by an author with a deft touch. It deserves a wide audience.
