As its name suggests, the exhibit includes paintings of scenes from around Lompoc – both landscapes and cityscapes.
Sylvia Cummings Kokatnur studied at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, New York. Following graduation, she was employed as a colorist and designer at Waverly’s Manhattan studio, where designs were created for its handprint (screenprint) drapery division. Sylvia is a signature member of the Garden State Watercolor Society and the New Jersey Water Color Society. Many of her paintings are in corporate and private collections. Her awards include a Best in Show, and the Winsor Newton award for excellence in watercolor.
Although transparent watercolor is her preferred medium, the artist has most recently been painting with acrylics on canvas. The present exhibit includes both watercolor and acrylic paintings. Mrs. Kokatnur moved with her husband to Lompoc from Belle Mead, New Jersey in 2001.
