Veterans Mile: Pierre Claeyssens Veterans Museum presents the ‘Veterans Mile’ which includes:
· At the Start Both the full and half marathon start with a ceremony that includes a fly-over of four U.S. T-34s, bagpipes, bugler, color guards, and more.
· During the Marathon Vintage WWII Army Jeep “Pierre” will lead the full marathon, driven by co-founder Lt. John Blankenship (Navy, Retired)
· Last mile is the ‘Veterans Mile’ 9am – 12 noon The last mile of the race will be decorated with military vehicles, American flags and campaign flags from all the wars/conflicts of the 20th century. The public and veterans will line the last mile of the marathon. All veterans are encouraged to participate. The last mile starts at Shoreline Park (Cliff & La Marina).
· The marathon ends at SBCC La Playa Stadium, Loma Alta & Shoreline Dr.
