Description:
The mind of going for refuge characterizes the Buddhist way of life and is the foundation for all spiritual realizations. What is refuge practice? We normally feel that we are quite capable and we have some pride in our abilities, but if we contemplate our present situation carefully, we will see that when serious difficulties such as accidents or disease arise, we are powerless, without even the slightest ability to protect ourself. Then, to what or whom do we go for protection? Refuge practice teaches us to build a special protection within our own mind; a special power and ability to protect ourself directly from the dangers and sufferings of this and future lives.
Retreat sessions will be guided by American Buddhist monk Kelsang Wangpo. No experience is needed and everyone is welcome to attend any or all sessions. $5 per session, $15 per day, or $50 for the Retreat.
