Winter in California means one thing to surfers: waves, waves, and more waves. With cold weather and storms, come seasonal swells that get surfers out of their beds and into wetsuits, gliding through the water in search of the perfect curl. That makes January the perfect time to indulge the spirit of surfing (even if you’ve never actually made it onto a board) by watching a surf film and on January 21, 2012 there will be the perfect storm of surf cinema at the Santa Barbara Maritime Museum (SBMM). That Saturday, co-director Heather Hudson will premiere the re-release of the surf documentary The Women and the Waves to signal the re-launch of SBMM’s popular Surf Film Saturday film series.
