Science Pub: What's Bugging You?: Insects in the Santa Barbara Region

S.B. Museum of Natural History entomologist Dr. Michael Caterino lead a talk about S.B.'s insect friends and foes.

When: Monday, July 18, 2011, 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Where: Dargan's Irish Pub & Restaurant, 18 E. Ortega St., Santa Barbara

Cost: Not available

Age limit: 21+

Categories: Social: Meetings

Description:

The S.B. area has a rich insect fauna. While many of these are beautiful, delightful creatures, like the monarch butterfly, many are also obnoxious: stinging, biting, eating our plants, buzzing in our faces, and seeming to have little redeeming value. Bring your curiosity and your burning bug questions. The evening should leave you with a better appreciation for 'the little things that run the world.'

If you have photos of insects that you would like identified, you may email them to Dr. Caterino in advance (mcaterino@sbnature2.org) and he will try to include them in the presentation.

Presented by the S.B. Museum of Natural History. No reservations are required. Be sure to get to Dargan's early for a seat and order your favorite drink and treat.
