JADEtribe Bags and Jill Elisofon Jewelry Trunk Show
JADEtribe was created by Kimberly Hartman as she stood in a rural village in Laos watching the women dye and weave their remarkable textiles. She realized she could help these women by buying their textiles directly from them for a fair price and then help other women by hiring them at fair wages to sew the gorgeous fabrics into fashionable bags.
Whether it’s the braided jewelry that jingles, or the organically dyed and hand loomed traditional textiles, each element of JADEtribe carries in it the hearts of the communities in Cambodia, Laos, and Thailand whose lives have been improved by creating it. Jill Elisofon’s interest in exotic beads and stones started with gifts she received from her father, Eliot Elisofon, and his travels around the world as a the LIFE Magazine photographer and filmmaker. As an avid collector, artist, and philanthropist herself, Jill designs custom necklaces that are both beautiful and full of deeply personal meaning, and sells them in service of the communities she supports, especially those in Egypt, Mali,
