Through the technique of using tiny needles to stimulate empirical points along the energetic channels of the body, acupuncture creates a cascade of hormone, nerve and circulatory responses. The National Institute of Health has recognized that acupuncture has proven effective in treating conditions like low back pain, depression, stress, insomnia, asthma, the common cold, digestive disorders, pain, menopause, arthritis, diabetes and many other common illnesses.
Reiki is one of many energy-healing techniques used these days to support the continual healing process of the body and spirit. A Reiki practitioner is taught to be a conduit for the universal energy of which we are all made. Receiving this energy has been shown to aid in relieving headaches and sinus congestion among other ailments, offer a sense of groundedness, as well as aid in quicker healing, both emotional and physical, on a deeper level.
***Participants should wear comfortable clothing that can easily be pulled up to the knees and elbows to allow for treatment using "distal" points on the arms, legs, neck, or head to treat various conditions. For example someone with back pain might be treated with acupuncture points on their arms and legs.
