Description:
Artist Porfirio Gutierrez was born and raised in Teotitlan, an important center of Zapotec culture located in the state of Oaxaca, Mexico, where he was taught the art of weaving at age 12 by his father on a traditional loom and integrating natural dyes. Gutierrez has since developed a fine expertise of a tradition that has been in his family for more than 2,000 years, illustrated in unique rugs, tapestries, runners, and pillows of Indigena Design.
