Description:
For the first time, DASI Karnamrita comes to Santa Barabara to sing with the residents and Bhakti Yogis of this magical place. Accompanied by the talented Joss Jaffe on tabla, they bring classical Indian traditions of music, while fusing it with the ever popular kirtan styles. There is no limit to where this combination can take us when focused on Bhakti.
Kirtan begins with Shravanam (active listening). Therefore, we will share Bhajans (songs of poetry), intimate stories and experiences. In weaving all this together in our own colors Kirtan will become ALIVE and personal!
Classically trained as a vocalist in India for nearly a decade, and with kirtan as her natural music since birth, DASI Karnamrita is one of the world's leading Kirtan singers and promoters of classical Bhakti traditions. Since her mother's passing in 1998 she has been deeply involved in composing, recording, and touring around the world, while collecting rare Sanskrit poetry in order to further share the ancient traditions of Bhakti.
Constantly touring for the last seven years, she performs and teaches at hundreds of venues worldwide: from Yoga retreats in Tuscany, in Maui with Deepak Chopra, and Ram Dass, with world renowned Yogis such as Gabriella and the Shivananda Ashram in the Bahamas, the National Cathedral in Washington DC and many World Music Festivals.
Her DASI album, has won many awards including winning 'Best Album of the Year' and 'Best song of the Year' in the JPF independent awards in Los Angeles. She is currently in production on her new release: The Dance of Braj.
