The 65th annual Santa Barbara International Orchid Show will play host to tens of thousands of orchids in full bloom on March 12, 13 and 14, 2010 at Earl Warren Showgrounds in Santa Barbara, California. This year’s event, themed “Nature in Harmony,” will feature spectacular orchid plants from all over the globe.
One of the oldest, largest and most prestigious orchid shows in the nation, the Santa Barbara International Orchid Show draws top local, regional and international growers, orchid societies, amateur botanists and floral arrangers. Each presents his most unique and stunning orchid plants in lush garden showcases designed for public viewing.
The Orchid Show runs 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily on Friday, March 12; Saturday, March 13; and Sunday, March 14. Individual tickets can be purchased at the show box office starting at 8:30 a.m. during the show weekend. General admission is $12. Seniors and students pay $10. Children 12 and under, accompanied by an adult, are free. Show information is available at www.sborchidshow.com.
The Santa Barbara International Orchid Show attracts vendors from around the world, including South America, Southeast Asia, Australia and the United States. A special sales area will feature thousands of blooming orchid plants, supplies, artwork, photography, corsages and merchandise.
Concurrently, the Santa Barbara Art Association will offer a juried fine art show and sale in the main Exhibit Hall featuring the works of noted California artists. The showcase will include artworks focusing on orchids in a variety of mediums – watercolors, oils, pastels, acrylics, mixed media, photography, sculpture, jewelry, glass, ceramics and metal art.
